The Decision Support Tool for museum professionals
After the assessment has been completed, the user will need to decide which of the recommendations to actually turn into preventive conservation measures.
Investing time and resources to mitigate one of the important risks, should considerably improve the situation for the object. Investing in risks very low in rank could turn out less effective.
The user could choose to implement just one of the recommendations -like investing in better fire-prevention- but he/she could also produce an action plan for the object outlining risks that need attention and detailing recommendations for the short, medium and long term.
The assessments results can also be used as a base for further discussion with colleagues and other museum professionals, as common insights may strengthen propositions for improving conservation conditions when presenting them to the management.
